Macon golfers tee off at Salvation Army charity event

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A day after the Masters Tournament wrapped up in Augusta, local golfers hit the course at Brickyard Country Club in Macon for a good cause.

More than 30 teams competed in the Salvation Army of Greater Macon’s 4th annual Charity Golf Tournament. Funds raised Monday will go toward making positive change for homeless individuals, families and veterans.

“It’s an opportunity for us to get the word out about what we do at the Salvation Army,” Sgt. Austin Sturdivant said. “It’s also an opportunity for us to reach donors and volunteers that want to get involved in all the things we are doing, so really this is all to raise money to keep individuals, families and veterans in our facilities.”

Last year’s tournament raised about $20,000.

If you weren’t able to make it Monday, you can still donate by visiting the Salvation Army’s website.
